Purpose of the exercise :
This resistance exercise is an isolation exercise for the pectorals. We use a machine with two pulleys connected to two high handles. The involvement of the movement in the shoulder is reduced and the triceps zero.
Usually this resistance exercise is used to congest the chest and place rather at the end of the session as movement finishing after heavy exercises for mass.
Targeted muscles :
It seeks primarily the pectoralis major and the anterior deltoid. You can sit back at the end of the movement for soliciting inside chest (the sternum).
Running the exercise :
Starting position standing between the two pulleys, bent slightly forward and the two handles in hands. Bring the handles forward by contracting the pectorals. To return to the starting position, to keep the angle constant bending elbows.
Respiration :
Inhale and exhale outstretched arms by bringing the handles against each other.
Safety instructions :
Do not put too heavy on this exercise weights. Do not go too high with outstretched arms as it stress the shoulder joint.
Alternatives :
Can perform this exercise bodybuilding standing, sitting or on an incline bench. Many variations are possible to reach different parts of pectorals.
You can replace this exercise by lying discarded or pec-deck.
